About the Journal

Focus and Scope

The CRTHJ aims to publish quarterly issues, created by OVERSEER IC, with the goal of contributing to scientific and technological knowledge through the publication of scientific studies related to technological areas, software engineering, simulation, artificial intelligence, and research projects in various disciplines. The CRTHJ is targeted at professionals and researchers working in these fields of knowledge.

Themes:

  • Scientific research
  • Software development and applications
  • Technological simulations
  • Artificial intelligence and machine learning
  • Technological innovations in various disciplines

Types of Works

CRTHJ accepts, evaluates, and publishes scientific research papers in Spanish and English, of two types:

  1. Research Advances: These are articles that present new research results, also known as original articles. As a multidisciplinary journal, CRTHJ requests that research advances articles contain topics relevant to a broad audience.

  2. Review Articles: Also known as literature review articles. These are critical evaluations of already published studies and research, aiming to define or clarify a research problem by synthesizing previous studies and providing readers with a critical assessment of available data from prior research. This type of article does not present new experimental results. The purposes of a review article include providing a comprehensive foundation, explaining the current state of knowledge, identifying gaps in existing studies for potential future research, and highlighting the main methodologies and research techniques. As a multidisciplinary journal, CRTHJ limits the publication of review articles.

These two types of articles will undergo their respective peer-review process.

Article Selection, Evaluation, and Publication Process

Selection Process

Each received article will undergo an initial evaluation to verify compliance with the journal's guidelines: scope/theme, format, structure, and readability. If the manuscript is not within the journal's scope, it will be returned to the author. Additionally, its similarity to existing works will be checked using the Turnitin tool. If a manuscript does not meet the formatting requirements, it will be returned to the authors for suggested changes. If no response is received, the manuscript will be automatically rejected.

Peer Review Process

All articles must undergo a blind peer review process, which includes:

  • Manuscript review by two or three reviewers. Currently, CRTHJ has national reviewers (both internal and external).
  • The editor compiles the comments and sends them to the author.
  • Based on the reviewers' comments, the editor decides whether to publish the manuscript.
  • When an article receives both positive and negative evaluations, the editor may request additional reviews from other reviewers, and a final decision will be made based on all evaluations.

The entire evaluation is conducted through a double-blind process; the authors do not know their reviewers, nor do the reviewers know the authors of the article.

Article evaluations are based on the following parameters:

  • Novelty of the Article
  • Adequate reference list to support the research
  • Technical Content
  • Results consistent with the objectives
  • Quality of figures and tables
  • Quality of writing

After peer review, articles may be categorized in the system as:

  • Accept Submission: The article is accepted by the reviewers.
  • Revisions Needed: The article requires minor corrections before acceptance (format changes).
  • Resubmit for Review: The article requires major corrections before acceptance (substantial changes in content).
  • Reject Submission: The article is rejected.

For the categories "Revisions Needed" and "Resubmit for Review," the articles will be sent back to their authors to make the necessary format and content corrections suggested by the reviewers. The corrections made by the authors must be detailed in a response letter to the reviewers and indicated in the document returned to the journal to facilitate the review process by the evaluators.

To ensure high quality in each article, the Editorial Committee of the journal reserves the right to reject articles at any stage of the process.

Publication Frequency

CRTHJ publishes quarterly, with one volume per year containing 3 issues (March, July, November). Article submission is ongoing, allowing articles to be updated and submitted at any time.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content under the principle that making research freely available to the public fosters greater global knowledge exchange.

Ethics and Publication

CRTHJ ensures that content meets internationally recognized ethical criteria. Editors promote ethical integrity in both published and unpublished works. In cases of serious ethical misconduct, issues may be referred to other authorities.

If the journal has published significant inaccuracies, errors, or misleading information, authors will be requested to make corrections immediately. This will be clearly stated in the publication. If corrections are not made, the editors reserve the right to retract the content.

Therefore, all parties involved in the publication process are expected to be aware of and adhere to agreements on behavior and ethical best practices to ensure the proper development of the knowledge dissemination process.

Authorship: The editorial committee considers that all authors who have written the article have made significant and proportional contributions to both the research and the manuscript. Therefore, all authors are considered to share responsibility when good ethical practices in scientific publication are not followed.

Changes to Author Data: Changes to author data such as affiliation, ORCID identifier, corresponding author, names and surnames, and the removal or inclusion of authors may be requested until the completion of the second round of review. The Editorial Team will assess the relevance of the request and approve it accordingly. For changes to author data, download the "Author Data Change Form" from the ABOUT>>TEMPLATES section. For the inclusion or removal of authors, download the "Author Removal or Increment Form" from the ABOUT>>TEMPLATES section.

Plagiarism Detection: Plagiarism is the use of another person's work, ideas, or words as if they were one's own, without giving proper credit to the source. Plagiarism is unacceptable in any form and is considered a serious breach of professional ethics, which may lead to legal and criminal penalties. The editorial team will verify the originality of the text using an authorized plagiarism detection service provided by the EPN.

Overlap or Multiple Publications: Overlap or multiple publications, including publishing the same article in two different journals or submitting the same document to two or more journals simultaneously for review, are to be avoided. The CRTHJ automatically rejects manuscripts previously published in conference proceedings.

Retractions: The CRTHJ will consider publishing a retraction when errors invalidate the conclusions of an article or when there is evidence of misconduct in the research or publication process. Cases for announcing a retraction include clear evidence that the findings of the article are unreliable due to errors, plagiarism, previous publication without proper attribution, fraudulent authorship, unauthorized use of information, unethical research, compromised peer review, or conflict of interest.

Retraction Announcement Process:

  1. The article will be edited to include a watermark stating "retracted article."
  2. The phrase "retracted article" will be placed in front of the article title.
  3. The editor will sign a note explaining the reasons for retraction, titled "Retraction: [article title]," which will be linked to the retracted article publication.
  4. This declaration will be assigned a DOI and proper pagination.
  5. The retraction will be published as promptly as possible.

Conflicts of Interest

Every article submitted to the Politechnical Journal must include disclosure of all relationships that could be viewed as potential real or perceived conflicts of interest, which could inappropriately influence their work.

Storage and Backups

The CRTHJ uses the Open Journal System (OJS), which is compatible with the digital preservation services LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe). This ensures a permanent and secure archive.
